Octopus Tentacle T2
Octopus is a cephalopod mollusk very common in the seabed of the Mediterranean typically found at depths above 200 m. Its main characteristic – which differentiates it from similar species – is the double row of suction cups on each of the 8 tentacles (for example, the musky octopus has only 1 row of suction cups). Its flavorful and genuine meat is typical of many regional Italian cuisines: boiled, roasted, fried, cooked in casseroles, to name just a few.
In the Mediterranean, it is fished at two different times of the year: From September to December (small in size) and from May to July (larger in size). Like all Don Gambero products, as soon as they are caught, the seafood is immediately blast chilled directly on board certified fishing vessel laboratories, with a very high thermal shock. In order to maintain the full freshness of the product, the processing is carried out very quickly without rinsing and icing. The shrimp are then packaged in special trays that guarantee the structure, flavor, aroma and nutritional values of the product.
The Octopus Tentacle T3 (medium to large size) consists of 2 tentacles and is vacuum-packed. Recently, a “Chill&Cook” food plastic package is used, which allows cooking the octopus directly inside the bag (approx. 450 g, pack of 2 tentacles)
The company
Established in 2014, Don Gambero is a dynamic fishing company based in Mazara del Vallo, which inherited a long tradition of sailors and fishermen in the temple of the Ammaru Russu, the name given to red shrimp in the Sicilian dialect.
Don Gambero does not only specialize in red shrimp available in various versions (whole, just tails and tartare), but also offers many other frozen products, selected and expertly processed: the best fish and seafood of the Aegadian Islands, Sciacca, Trapani and Mazara del Vallo.
